How To Make Money from Auctions

Auction Secrets: Do Your Homework and Come Out a Winner!

Hi, My name is Andy Regal. It took me over three years and a lot of hard work, but I have finally been able to make a good full-time living from Auctions. What I have done here is to list what has worked for me. "Work at Home" sounds good to most, but I also enjoy traveling to real, in-person auctions. For Car Auctions, House Auctions, Electronics, and other Public Sales, you really have to be there in person at the local auction to to inspect the goods. I have found it best for the Auction Professional to be "Well Balanced"- it is best to do Both online and in-person auctions to balance your business activities. The best part for me is that now that I can buy and sell full time, I pay for my travel as a business expense. Making a good living from Auction has challenges, but I am living proof that it can be done! For me, dedication, perseverance, and little luck is what made it all happen.

Resources For Internet Auction Professionals

I personally make most of my money from Car Auctions. With one car, I can usually clear $500 to $1500 each. The total time it takes for each car purchase and sale is about 10 Hours total. Most of the time, I have a buyer pre-arranged for the vehicle, taking most of the stress out of the transaction. This is good money: I make between $50 and $150 per hour for having fun at the car auction! To get started, I sincerely recommend that you invest in some professional advice. I spent about $300 total in guides and memberships, but it is worth every penny. Knowledge and techniques are what will set the professional apart from the "wannabees". You also need to have a little bit of a bankroll. I got started with some saved money, but I also managed some of the expenses on a couple of 0 APR Credit Cards.

An interesting public-sales specialty is Gun Auctions. Firearms Auctions are very unique- there are obviously special legal requirements, and special knowledge of guns and firearms is a must. If you are going to be spending a lot of time on gun auctions, it is a good idea to get your Federal Firearms License. This gives you certain rights and obligations when buying and selling guns.

There's a lot of stuff on the internet about making money on eBay. I'm not saying it can't be done, but just remember there are lots of eBay alternatives. I like Overstock Auctions the best: the fees are half of what they charge at eBay, and the interface is clean- just what the Pros like us are looking for!

Government Auctions

Government Auctions are one of my favorites: I love to go to Police Auctions, IRS Auctions, and Bank Auctions because they usually draw large and interesting crowds You need to do your homework on these auctions to consistently make money. When you buy something from these auctions, there are no warranties. For Automobile Auctions and Boat Salvage Auctions, I like to bring along a qualified mechanic or Marine Surveyor to help make the purchase evaluation. Always take full advantage of the inspection periods, wich are different for each auction. For Real Estate, it's a good idea to get an independent Home Inspection. An appraisal may be in order also; especially if you are using "nothing down" home buying techniques. In a poor economy, home foreclosures and bank auctions are plentiful- and profitable!
